Anna Sui Spring/Summer 2019 Collection – New York Fashion Week
If you are looking for a collection that screams fun and fabulous at the top of its lungs, Anna Sui is the route to take. The beach is the inspiration it appears as the world has stopped and the only thing left to do is to frolic among the waves looking as impeccably perfect as we can possibly do so. It appears that her vacation in Tahiti and Honolulu really did more than allow her to relax, providing the basis for a collection that would literally knock the breath right out of our lungs upon completion of the latest project. It is glamorous, it is fine, and more than anything, it is a collection that automatically brings a smile to your face, particularly due to the colors and contrasts in incorporated so freely into the designs. The transportation to the South Pacific can do us good it seems as we are already having a better day at work just by having seen the magnificence of theAnna Sui spring/summer 2019 pieces. It was certainly nice to see the traditional Polynesian influences among the Americanized variations of the perfect garments shown off during the New York Fashion Week.
Between the pineapple prints and the embroidered varsity jackets, the floral jacquard surf shorts and the seaside motifs, along with the colorful swimsuits, the hula skirt, the crepe de chine dresses and all the rest of the incredible details of the collection as a whole, this was possibly one of the better Anna Sui line-ups we have seen to date. We love the flowers. The reds and the yellows, vibrant and clear, contrast beautifully against the black background of crochet halter top and shorts with fringes hanging from the flower strewn waist. We are drawn to the red roses, clinging to dresses and shoes, hair accessories and swimwear. There are some knits that we can certainly see making the spring a warmer, cozier atmosphere that remind us that there is both autumn and winter still before the rise of the spring style months.
Red and black seem to be an overwhelming theme color, while white and yellow also have their place, respectively. The lime green that appears on the rather intriguing dress hinting at tattoo sleeves is also captivating, earning the love of those, who are very much into those sleeves but prefer not to spend the time or money on getting it done professionally. After all, it can kill professionalism if done on a permanent basis but this design offers a less costly way out. The black is paired with the reds, greens and yellows or appears on its own.
More than anything though, the high waist swimsuits are what catch the attention of the average female, who would love to show off a body but cannot seem to find one to fit over her backside properly. Crochets, knits, embroiders, punch designs; all of these contribute to a rather interesting collection by Anna Sui that we are sure to be shopping from over the coming weeks. Add the transparency trend to the mix and here we have a line-up fit for the spring and summer quite beautifully.
