How to Cook Cajun Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo

Ingredients

  • 25 uncooked deveined medium shrimp
  • 8oz packaged fettuccine pasta
  • 4 tbs margarine or butter
  • 1 pt whipping cream
  • 2 cups shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Steps

  1. Place your shrimp in a big mixing bowl and cover with cool water.Let the shrimp soak in the water for some time to defrost.
  2. Place a pot of water over high heat.Wait until the water comes to a boil before adding the fettuccine pasta.
  3. Once the water comes to a boil, add your fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook for about 10 minutes.After the noodles are cooked, drain the water through a strainer over a sink.
  4. Peel the skin and tail off each shrimp.It is important to buy deveined shrimp because it requires much more work on this step. After rinsing the shrimp and pour out the water.
  5. Season the shrimps with cajun seasoning, minced garlic, and pepper, then rub the seasonings in well.Avoid salt at this time, due to the fact that cajun seasoning can have a saltiness already. Putting salt on this dish after it is prepared is much safer.
  6. Get ready to saute the shrimp in a skillet over high heat.
    • Add 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine to the skillet.
  7. Once melted, add the shrimp.Fry for 20 seconds per side (only fry a few shrimp at a time), then set aside.
  8. Place the boiling pot over low heat.Add 2 tablespoons (29.6 ml) of butter or margarine to the pot.
  9. Once the butter melts, add whipping cream.Add shredded parmesan cheese.
  10. Cook over low heat for three minutes.Raise to high heat, and cook until cheese is fully melted. Make sure you stir as the cheese is melting. Do not cook the alfredo sauce too long because it will become thick and will thicken even more when it cools. Get it to the point where it is loose and saucy enough to your desire.
    • Add the fettuccine pasta and shrimp.
  11. Fold the fettuccine and shrimp into alfredo sauce.
  12. Finished.Serve and prepare to eat!
