When it comes to dining, there's something for everyone at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida. One of the newest fast-casual restaurants, Chicken Guy!, recently opened at Disney Springs' Westside and we had the opportunity to check it out and chat with the Mayor of Flavortown himself, Guy Fieri.
You'll find Chicken Guy! in the same complex as Planet Hollywood, as the restaurant is a collaboration between Fieri and Robert Earl, the owner of Planet Hollywood. The actual restaurant is quite small, but what the restaurant lacks in size, the food makes up in flavor in a huge way. Every single piece of chicken that goes out of the kitchen is fresh, never frozen, hand breaded, fried or grilled chicken breasts. Guests can get chicken as strips, sandwiches, salads, and on top of loaded fries. With 22 different sauces, there's something for everyone to try and love, including some sauces you might not expect to love, but most definitely will — we're looking at you Nashville hot honey sauce.

The chicken strips available at Guy Fieri's new spot are tender and crunchy with the perfect amount of seasoning, and the sandwiches are all perfectly made with the right amount of toppings. If you're a big avocado fan, then you have to try the Big Bite B.L.A.T., which comes to you with two chicken tenders that you can get crispy or fried, bacon, lettuce, avocado crema, tomatoes, and buttermilk ranch. We topped it off with the cumin-lime mojo sauce, and while the sandwich is absolutely perfect on its own, the added sauce added a nice citrusy zip to it.
The person behind Chicken Guy!, celebrity chef Guy Fieri is passionate about serving people good food at a price almost anyone can enjoy, and something that a family can really enjoy together. Fieri knows that food is the common denominator of all folks. It truly brings people together to enjoy life's small moments. So to have a restaurant open at Disney Springs is a dream for Fieri. Disney makes people happy and food suspends bad feelings, so when you combine the two, it's pure magic.

So why did Fieri, who is known to so many for trying restaurants all over the country and bringing mom and pop places into the spotlight go with a chicken restaurant? Chicken is universal, according to Fieri. It plays well with everyone and almost every culture has their own version of a traditional chicken dish. It's a canvas for flavor, and each item on the menu at Chicken Guy! is simple but complex in the way everything comes together from toppings to sauces.
The opening of Chicken Guy! has been almost two years in the making. When Fieri patterned with Earl for new menu items at Planet Hollywood, it was the start of something big. After a lot of menu development and time together, Chicken Guy! was born. For every sauce on the menu, Fieri and his team would evaluate up to ten variations of each. Breaking these sauces down to the ones that ended up making the menu was one of the more challenging parts of curation. Adding more sauces is at the back of Fieri's mind, and he's always experimenting with something new.
When guests finally do decide on the two sauces they want to to go with their meal and get to their table, they will be met by "The Sauce Slinger." If there's something on the sauce list you wanted to try but couldn't quite commit, don't fret. The Sauce Slinger walks around Chicken Guy! with sauces that most guests wouldn't think to try or might be a little too nervous to commit to for their whole meal. You ask the Sauce Slinger for a sample of the sauce in question and they squeeze it right into a small cup for you to enjoy.

One of Fieri's most important takeaways from being in the food business, and with opening Chicken Guy!, is to listen to guests. They come in with expectations, and those expectations need to be met. At Chicken Guy! the food is simple but it's good. What you see is what you get. Eating at Chicken Guy!, and eating in general, is communal. It's about where you come from and where you're going, according to Fieri. The cast members and the guests at Walt Disney World are what makes all of this possible, and the diversity in people is what makes it all great.
Before we left Chicken Guy! we asked Fieri, what was one thing he loved outside of food and the culinary industry? His answer was quick, philanthropy. He loves serving his community and taking care of other people. Recently, he went to serve families that had been affected by the wildfires that broke out in northern California.
If you're headed to Disney Springs any time soon, you're going to want to check out Chicken Guy! and get on the train.
